Mississippi River Tour with the XYZ's
Thursday, May 16
On Thursday, May 16, we will be taking two tours that focus on the importance of the Mississippi River in developing the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
In the morning, we will tour the St. Anthony locks and dam. Tours usually take 30-45 minutes and present:
- History of the falls and the role of the US Corp of Engineers in preserving the falls
- The unique characteristics of the Upper Mississippi and the lock and dam system
- How a lock and dam function.
After lunch, we will have a tour of the Mill Museum. Minneapolis is known as the Mill City and we'll learn how this part of the country developed around milling. Look for the sign up sheet for this event on the bulletin board near the elevator. Whether you have lived in the area all of your life or only recently arrived, you're sure to learn something.
