Confirmation prepares God’s children to reaffirm the faith that was given to them in their Baptism. Classes meet Wednesdays at 6:00pm and for young people in grade 6 to 8.
Confirmation is a time when a young person is mature enough to confirm the faith given them by the Holy Spirit and reaffirm promises that their parents and sponsors made for them when they were baptized.
In order to help children learn the Christian faith and grow in what they believe, Messiah uses a large group/small group format. First, everyone enrolled in confirmation meets as a large group for the main lesson. Then the students break into small groups of 4-6 and an adult (team leader) meets with them to review and apply the lesson.
Requirements for confirmation include: sermon notes, memory work and a family assignment. Since we only cover a topic once in our three year program, the student will have a make up lesson if they miss a class.
We understand the busyness of today's family. However, we ask that for this brief time in the young person's life that the parents and the students make Confirmation a priority.
Registration fees are $25. This covers books and other confirmation supplies, such as a Bible, a workbook, text book, a Bible marking kit, and a journal. If the fee is a hardship for your family please talk to Phyllis Grubb.
Please bring the registration form and medical release for with you on the first night.
